LIC of India, LIC Housing Finance, Maruti Suzuki top advertisers on radio in Q1 2024

TAM AdEx India has launched their quarterly report on radio advertising for the January- March 2024 period, monitoring more than 110 radio stations.

In Q1 2024, ad volumes per station on radio were 110, which remained unchanged compared to Q1 of 2023. But it witnessed a growth of 7% when compared to Jan-Mar 2022.

More than 2.5k advertisers and 3.3k brands were exclusively present on radio in Jan-Mar 2024. Astral and LIC Jeevan Utsav were the top exclusive advertiser and brand on radio during Jan-Mar 2024.

Services, Banking/Finance/Investment and Auto continued to dominate the top three positions in Jan-Mar 2024. Household Products entered the top 10 sectors during this quarter. Together, the top 10 sectors had a combined share of 88%.

Speaking of leading categories, the top 10 categories collectively added 51% share of ad volumes with Properties/Real Estates dominating the list. Also, the top five categories retained their respective ranks during Jan-Mar 2024 as compared to Jan-Mar 2023. 

Among leading advertisers, more than 4k advertisers were present on radio during Jan-Mar 2024, where Life Insurance Corporation of India was leading the list. 

Additionally, LIC of India, LIC Housing Finance and Maruti Suzuki India continued to be the top three advertisers during Jan- Mar 2024, as they were in Jan-Mar 2023. Out of the top 10 advertisers, six were new entrants.

LIC Housing Finance was the top brand for advertising on radio during Jan-Mar 2024, followed by Madhur Sugar, LIC Jeevan Utsav, Vision 204, Alishan, Brother Printer, ACKO General Auto Insurance, Reliance Digital, Renault Cars, Nissan Magnite and more.

Properties/Real Estates was the top growing category in terms of increase in ad secondages followed by Cars, Retail Jewellers, Mortgage loans, Hospital/Clinics in Jan-Mar 2024 compared to Jan-Mar 2023.

Coming to advertising in leading states and cities on radio during Jan-Mar’24, Gujarat was the leading state with 19% share of ad volumes, closely followed by Maharashtra with 18% share. 

The top five states accounted for 65% of total ad volumes. In cities, Jaipur secured the top position with 9% share of ad volumes in Jan-Mar 2024. Also, the top 10 cities added 68% share of ad volumes.

Evening was the most preferred time-band on radio followed by Morning and Afternoon time-bands. Evening and Morning time bands together added 69% share of ad volumes.

The ad commercials with 20-40 seconds were most preferred for advertising on radio during Q1’24 and Q1’23.
