ICC Men's T20 World Cup: Ad inventory for India vs Pak almost sold out?

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has already begun, and all eyes are now on the upcoming India vs Pakistan match on Sunday, which has ensued high interest from advertisers, with more than 90% of the ad inventory already sold out, industry sources have told exchange4media.

According to reliable sources, the inventory for Connected TV and HD TV is almost sold out and the rest of the TV and mobile inventory is at over 90% + level.

The official broadcaster of the tournament, Disney Star and Disney+ Hotstar, kept their ad rates for the T20 matches the same as the last time but for the India vs Pakistan match, advertisers are paying 20-25 % more, said sources.

According to sources close to the development, the TV ad rate for only the India vs Pakistan match is Rs 50 lakh per 10 seconds.

“Ind-Pak match is the biggest impact property and it definitely commands a premium of 22-25% over the regular matches spot buy irrespective of TV or Digital. There are brands which may advertise only on Ind-Pak matches for the unparalleled reach it offers,” said an industry expert.

As per the ad rates of the broadcaster, reported by e4m earlier, the price for HD and SD combined stands at Rs 6.2 lakh. Buying separately costs Rs 4.7 lakh for SD and Rs 2.4 lakh for HD feeds.

Meanwhile, for only spot buys, the sports broadcaster sought Rs 6.40 lakh for both SD and HD feed for all matches.

The 28 key matches are priced at Rs 11.25 lakh while best six India and knockout matches plus 12 prime time matches are priced at Rs 13.80 lakh.

All India and knockout matches are priced at Rs 26.50 lakh. The broadcaster is seeking Rs 4.50 lakh for the key non-India matches (prime-time).

On the digital platform, Disney+ Hotstar, the network has three sponsorship tiers including co-presenting priced at Rs 80 crore, powered by Rs 55 crore and associate sponsorship at Rs 30 crore.

Disney Star had announced roping in 19 sponsors for the tournament with brands including Dream 11, Maruti, AMFI, Parle Products, BPCL, Haier, ICICI Bank, Jockey, KP Group (Kamala Pasand), Reliance Retail, Samsung India, Housing.com, Jaquar Group, Castrol, Kent RO, TVS Eurogrip, Macho Hint, McNroe, and Vimal.

The T20 World Cup, being held in the USA, commenced on June 2. India will play its first match of the tournament today (June 5) against Ireland in New York. It will play Pakistan on June 9.
