Summer Journalism Institute for Women to be held from 23-31 August 2018

The Summer Journalism Institute for Women is being held from 23-31 August 2018, between 2-6 pm, in New Delhi at the India Habitat Centre. Urvashi Butalia (Founder of Zubaan Books) and Pamela Philipose (Public Editor of The Wire) are co-convening it. The course is open to all women aspiring to become journalists irrespective of any upper age limit or the profession they are currently pursuing. The course would offer a ladder of entry, and a community for instruction, mentorship, and support to aspiring and practicing female journalists, as well as women who are more generally interested in issues pertaining to the media. The course would offer participants a broad introduction to journalism, focusing on issues of identity broadly conceived. Participants would receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course. The course is being organized by Academe India Foundation. Zubaan Books is its Organizational Partner, and Ashoka University’s Young India Fellowship program is an Academic Partner. Guest speakers include many among the most eminent scholars and journalists, counting among them multiple Padma Shri, Ramnath Goenka, and Redink Awardees. Sreenivasan Jain (NDTV), Chinmayi Arun (National Law University Delhi and Harvard University), Neeladri Bhattacharya (Jawaharlal Nehru University), Shubhra Gupta (Indian Express), and Sanjeev Miglani (Reuters) are some among the speakers.
