HUL's ad spends 12% higher in Q1 FY25

FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever reported 11.6% YoY jump in advertising and promotional spends for Q1’25. The company spent Rs 1,681 crore on advertising during the quarter ended June 30th, 2024. The advertising spend for the June quarter of 2023 was Rs 1,505 crore. 

According to HUL’s quarterly report, the net profit for the company was Rs 2,612 crore for Q1’25, which is a 2.1% YoY increase.

The Revenue from Operations for the quarter was Rs 15,707 crore, total sales amongst this was at Rs. 15,523 crore which grew by 2% during the quarter. All segments except personal care (home care, beauty & well being, food and refreshments and others) saw an increase in revenue for June quarter of 2024 as compared to the same period last year.

Home Care revenue was Rs 5, 673 crore (JQ’23 Rs 5,421 crore), Beauty & Well Being Revenue was Rs 3,281 crore (JQ’23 Rs 3,170 crore), Personal Care revenue was Rs 2,386 crore (JQ’23 2,498 crore) and Food & Refreshments revenue was Rs 3,850 crore (JQ’23 Rs 3,797 crore).  

In terms of consumption trends, Rohit Jawa, CEO & MD, Hindustan Unilever, shared on an earnings call that the company witnessed more aspiration, more premium and more consumption over digital. The gradual recovery of rural demand also continued through the quarter for HUL. The company’s premium portfolio contribution was up by c.300bps over the last three years.
