RIL, Disney offer to sell some channels for faster merger anti-trust nod: Reports
To push things faster for the RIL-Walt Disney merger's completion, the two parties have offered to sell a few channels. This is supposed to make way for a faster anti-trust approval, media agencies have reported. However, RIL and Disney are not keen on making changes to the cricket broadcast rights that each of them own, reports have said quoting sources.

RIL and Disney, as per media reports, have told the Competition Commission of India that they are ready to sell select less than 10 TV channels to allay concerns about the merged entity's power over the broadcast market.

The channels in question could be regional ones where RIL and Disney are reportedly thinking of making concessions for the merger. Meanwhile, the NCLT hearing on the Disney-RIL merger that was expected to take place on August 12 did not take place, as per sources. The earlier hearing also ended up with an adjournment. The buzz in the industry is that Viacom18 and Walt Disney's Star India hope to complete the merger by October.
