Sony Pictures Networks India names Gaurav Banerjee as new CEO

Sony Pictures Networks India has appointed Gaurav Banerjee as its new CEO, media networks have reported.

Gaurav Banerjee, who was earlier with Disney Star as Head-Content, Disney+ Hotstar & HSM Entertainment Network, will be taking over from NP Singh who announced that he was stepping down last week.

Gaurav Banerjee played a pivotal role in shaping Star’s entertainment portfolio. His responsibilities included entertainment curation for Disney+ Hotstar, covering multiple languages and overseeing original series and films.

Disney Star and Sony Pictures have declined to comment on the development.

Gaurav also was in charge of content for the network’s Hindi Entertainment TV vertical.

He was also responsible for overseeing TV brands like Star Gold, Star Jalsha, Star Bharat and National Geographic Channel.

Banerjee has also served on the board of directors of the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Federation.

He also serves on the core technical committee of BARC India.

Gaurav holds a master's degree in filmmaking and TV production from the Mass Communications Research Centre at Jamia Milia Islamia University, Delhi, and has completed his undergraduate studies in history at St. Stephens, Delhi. He also serves on the board of the educational institution.
