Prime Minister Modi turns 68 today and will be celebrating his birthday in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi today. India has seen tremendous progress under the tenure of Modi. From the ‘Swach Bharat’ initiative to ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make In India’, the PM has emphasized on the change & growth since 2014. Today, on his birthday, let’s have a look at some of his key initiatives. HELLO DIGITAL INDIA Digital India was launched to ensure that people from all walks of life, especially those from the rural areas, are digitally empowered. The Government has worked on a holistic policy consisting of connecting villages through fiber optics, digitally educating citizens, providing service delivery through mobiles and promoting electronic manufacturing. The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. “Faceless, Paperless, Cashless” is one of professed roles of Digital India. Digitization has almost transformed the landscape of India today. PM Modi set off to an impressive start after launching a string of programs and national missions to revitalize the Indian economy, accelerate the pace of social development, and position India as a champion on the global stage. #MAKEININDIA TRENDING The initiative was formally introduced on September 25, 2014 by PM Modi at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of business giants from India. The focus of the Make in India programme is on 25 sectors. These include: automobiles, aviation, chemicals, IT, BPM, pharmaceuticals, construction, defence manufacturing, electrical machinery, food processing, textiles and garments, ports, leather, media and entertainment, wellness, mining, tourism and hospitality, railways, automobile components, renewable energy, biotechnology, space, thermal power, roads and highways and electronics systems. The Make in India program is very important for the economic growth of India as it aims to utilize the existing Indian talent base, creating additional employment opportunities and empowering secondary and tertiary sector. The program also aims at improving India’s rank on the Ease of Doing Business index by eliminating unnecessary laws and regulations, making bureaucratic processes easier, making the government more transparent, responsive and accountable. According to an official release issued in December 2014, The Make in India initiative, has become the largest and fastest growing government initiative ever with over 2.1 billion global impressions on social media and reached an overall fan base of over 3 million on its Facebook page.
